The bountiful El Negro cigar celebrates the life and legacy of North America’s first Black head of state, President Vincente Ramón Guerrero. Before serving as Mexico’s second president (1829-1830), Guerrero served as one of the leading generals who fought against and defeated Spain in the Mexican War of Independence. His opponents referred to him as El Negro because of his African heritage, advocacy for the equal rights of all Mexicans, and the abolishment of slavery in the country in 1829.
